Our history

The company F.lli Robustelli S.r.l., set up at the end of 1952, start his activity at the beginning of January 1953 in its location of Via Franchino Rusca in Villa Guardia (CO), by designing and manufacturing high-precision automatic electromechanical accessories for the machine tool industry.

Over the following years, in view of the increasing expansion of the textile industry throughout the Como territory, our company dedicates to the design and production of textile machinery, in particular printing tables for the fabric printing companies.

Because of the considerable dimensions of the new production modules, the company moves to its new building, always in Villa Guardia, Via Firenze n. 3, still the present location.

In the early ‘60s, it begins in the new location, the designing and manufacturing of innovative equipments for the textile field, both for printing and for flat screen and rotary screen photoengraving.
The company realized the first semiautomatic carriages for screen printing and the earliest equipments for the production and photoengraving of flat screens.
These equipments made known the F.lli Robustelli abroad, so starting the first exportations towards the main countries of the world. Exportations that still represent the 50% of the total production.

F.lli Robustelli was one of the first companies producing machines at CNC (Computerized Numerical Control). It is in this context that the company began to equip its machines with more and more progressive electronic systems, appealing to the collaboration of companies with great competence in the field of electronic and informatic technologies, able to assure highly innovative solutions.

The proliferation of graphic CAD systems made it necessary the development of large-format peripherals, able to transfer the drawings electronically produced, on the films first, and then directly on the photoengraved frames and rotary screens.
So, F.lli Robustelli started the realization of scanner-plotters, employing laser technology for the production of photographic films, and subsequently, thanks to a close and active collaboration with the German company C.S.T. (COLOUR SCANNER TECHNOLOGY), of wax-jet machines for the direct engraving of flat screens

It is in special way in this last field that the company started using ink-jet technology.
The experience acquired in using these piezo-electric ink jet heads and the conviction that digital technology represents the natural developments of high-quality textile printing, led F.lli Robustelli to develop, in close collaboration with SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION, the MONNA LISA project.

Before MONNA LISA, the offer of F.lli Robustelli included the following kinds of machines:

Flat screen photoengraving equipments:

Stretching machines for flat screens "ROBUSTA": for the stretching and gluing of the cloth on flat screen frames.
Drying ovens for flat screens "RFQ90": for drying in controlled atmosphere of the light-sensitive emulsion coated on the frame.
Electronic step and repeat machines "REV87F" and "REV87Q": for the photoengraving of films and flat screens
Lacquer suction machines "RA81": for the suction of the varnish coated on the flat screens.
Scanner-Plotters "ROBLASER" and "ROBLASER COLOUR":for the scanning of a design and the film plotting by an infrared laser diode.
Engraving machines "WAX- JET": for the direct photoengraving of flat and rotary screens by wax-jet technology.

Rotary screen photoengraving equipments:

Rotary screen lacquer coating machines "RP86": for the lacquer coating on rotary screens.
Drying ovens "RFA90": for the drying in controlled atmosphere of the lacquer coated on the rotary screens.
Engraving machines "RC86": for the photengraving of rotary screens.
Developing machines for flat screens "RSV90": for the washing and developing of the photoengraved rotary screens.
Polymerization ovens "RFP90": for the final polymerization of rotary screens.
End ring gluing machines "RG86": for the gluing of end-rings at the edges of the photoengraved rotaryscreens.
